14
cars fronted up for the first round of the WASDA
Speedcars Country Series in the southwest town of
Margaret River last Saturday night. To sum up
the weekend’s effort by the Telenta Motorsports
team, it was certainly eventful and frustrating at
the same time as they experienced a few hurdles
along the way.
Chris and
Tammy Telenta were drawn together in Heat 2, so their first
effort of the night was rewarded with a second and third
place respectively. |

During Heat 3
Tammy was driving incredibly well in second place behind #3
Scott Glazebrook until contact with the wall resulted in her
rolling the #29. Well this is not the first time our
princess of speed has faced the upside down scenario on this
track, she had done so at the final meeting of the season
last year at Margaret River. After Tammy’s unfortunate kiss
with the wall, the pressure was on for the Telenta
Motorsports team to repair the damage in the pits ready for
her next event.
Heat 4 saw Chris power his car like a dream as he drove the
race of his life whilst challenging #27 Dean Beagley for the
lead position. As he finally passed Beagley, he pulled away
from the field and powered the #11 machine to win his second
heat race of the season.
Luckily, heats 5 & 6 were changed and the team were afforded
some extra time to finish the #29. Chris was driving well in
his last heat of the night but unfortunately a misfire in
the motor slowed the car and he ended up finishing in fourth
place.
It wasn’t sure if the #29 was going to make Heat 6, but
luckily Tammy was the last car to get out on the track ready
for the line up. With her head held high, Tammy raced a
great race and challenged #23 Glen Mears for second position
with a few awesome position changes between the two drivers.
At race end, Tammy finished a credible third place.
Leading up to the feature race, the Telenta Motorsports team
discovered a hole in the radiator of the #11 machine (which
had nothing to do with the misfire). The discovery brought
disappointment for the team to announce that they would be
out of the line up for the feature event. “Although we are
disappointed that our night has ended for us short of the
feature, we are really happy that we have got the car going
to where we want it”, noted Chris.
The feature saw 10 cars line up for the feature with Tammy
starting in sixth position. After 20 laps Tammy drove well
to retain her starting position by finishing sixth.
Chris and Tammy Telenta will next contest the most
prestigious event on the WA calendar, the WA Speedcar State
Championship at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night 14th
March.
Chris and Tammy along with the rest of the Telenta
Motorsports team will also be hosting their World’s Greatest
Shave event where Chris and some of the crew shaving their
hair after the nights racing in the pits!
